Stay on top of BAS

Stay on top of BAS

Business owners and directors should place high importance on keeping up to date with BAS lodgements and payments. Banks take a keen interest in your GST compliance and payment record when lending and the ATO has recently taken a firmer stance on penalties and non-lodgement. In some cases, directors and owners can become personally liable for BAS debts.

The reality of small business though is that more pressing needs take priority and pesky administration tasks like doing your BAS or tax are put to the bottom of the pile.

The last thing you want is to be contacted by the ATO regarding non-lodgement of your returns, which is how Bill came to be a Marsh & Partners bookkeeping client. Behind in his lodgements, the ATO were sending increasingly strong demands that he bring his returns up to date. It was an extremely stressful situation compounded by the fact that his bookkeeping was so far behind it would have been an enormous task to sort it all out on his own. Our bookkeepers were able to step in and negotiate with the ATO on his behalf, bring his data back up-to-date and take care of his outstanding returns.
