Tired of paperwork?

Leave the books to us and spend more time on the things you enjoy

You didn’t start a business so you could do more paperwork. You started it because you wanted to run a great business doing something you care about.

When you spend all day working in the business, you simply don’t have the time and energy to spend your evenings crunching numbers and balancing books.

But when your accounting data isn’t up to date you don’t have the information you need to effectively manage your business. Can you afford to buy stock right now? Do you have an impending cash flow problem? How much profit are you actually making per month or per job? Financial decisions you make today can affect your business for months or even years – you need to make them based on the most up-to-date information available.

We can free up your time and take the pain out of paperwork with our bookkeeping service. You’ll get accurate insights on your financial performance and peace of mind that everything is up to date.  And you’ll get your life back so you can focus on doing what you do best.

At any given time, business owners should be able to know their profit position, cash position, aged debtors and creditors and future commitments to the ATO. With the introduction of “live” accounting packages and daily bank feeds in recent years, it’s easier than ever to have access to real time reports for your business.  As long as your bookkeeper is up-to-date!

Paul approached Marsh & Partners with concerns about his bookkeeping. His internal bookkeeper was falling behind and he didn’t know what was happening in the business. After taking over, we worked with Paul’s staff to improve internal processes and reduce the time taken to manage the bookkeeping work. Paul now has timely reports at his fingertips and it’s a more cost-effective solution to having a bookkeeper on staff.

Every business is different and has specific needs. We work with business owners and accounts staff to deliver a solution tailored to your requirements – from a little help here and there, to a complete bookkeeping service.

Paul's bookkeeping had fallen behind

Payroll is a complex and time-critical issue for many businesses. Given the recent number of high-profile employers identified for underpaying staff, it’s little wonder small businesses have some anxiety about getting it right.

We’ve helped our clients improve payroll accuracy and make the most of their accounting software to reduce the time it takes to process their pay runs.

Our client Michael wasn’t using the full potential of his accounting system. Our bookkeepers spent time with his team to show them how to use timesheets and job costing functions to automate the payroll recording process while at the same time assisting them with job costing processes.  These simple efficiencies saved Michael’s team hours of data input and improved their job costing calculations.  With just a small amount of training we made a substantial difference to their business both in staff costs and profitability.

Business owners and directors should place high importance on keeping up to date with BAS lodgements and payments. Banks take a keen interest in your GST compliance and payment record when lending and the ATO has recently taken a firmer stance on penalties and non-lodgement. In some cases, directors and owners can become personally liable for BAS debts.

The reality of small business though is that more pressing needs take priority and pesky administration tasks like doing your BAS or tax are put to the bottom of the pile.

The last thing you want is to be contacted by the ATO regarding non-lodgement of your returns, which is how Bill came to be a Marsh & Partners bookkeeping client.  Behind in his lodgements, the ATO were sending increasingly strong demands that he bring his returns up to date.  It was an extremely stressful situation compounded by the fact that his bookkeeping was so far behind it would have been an enormous task to sort it all out on his own. Our bookkeepers were able to step in and negotiate with the ATO on his behalf, bring his data back up-to-date and take care of his outstanding returns.

Bill's BAS lodgements were behind

Many of our clients use software to manage the workflow and job costing areas of their business. Often these programs are industry specific, which is great for effectively managing your business. When we first met Peter he was using three separate programs in his business and needed to integrate them so he had accurate accounting information for financial oversight.

We were able to work with him to integrate the vital information into his accounting software. He could then take advantage of all of the reporting features in the software and use them to better control his numbers. Our goal is to find the most accurate and efficient methods to process the information in your business.
