Superannuation in Australia is complex and there are frequent changes to legislation. We respect the trust our clients place in us for expert advice and are committed to providing you with accurate and timely guidance.
Introducing MP Connect - Brisbane's specialist SMSF accountants
Accountants have traditionally provided their clients with advice on SMSF matters such as whether to start a fund, when to withdraw funds or winding up a fund. However, from 1 July 2016, accountants providing this advice must hold a limited Australian Financial Services (AFS) licence or be an authorised representative of an AFS licensee.
SMSF trustees need to ensure they are getting assistance from someone who is both licensed and qualified to give advice.
Five senior members of the Marsh & Partners team are licensed to provide SMSF advice and we deliver this expertise through MP Connect.
What does it take to be an SMSF specialist?
The team at MP Connect have over 20 years' experience in accounting, audit, tax and investment matters for SMSFs. They have extensive experience advising on the accounting, taxation, compliance and legislation issues specific to SMSFs and related parties. They have also undertaken a rigorous study program to become licenced authorised representatives and participate in ongoing professional development to increase their expertise.
What does this change mean for existing Marsh & Partners clients?
In terms of SMSF administration, you won't notice any change at all. Our administration and compliance services will continue to be delivered efficiently and with the same attention to detail you have always expected from us.
When it comes to strategic advice for your SMSF, you may notice a change in the way we structure the process and in the type of documentation you receive. Generally speaking, the process of giving advice is more systematic and formal than you would have previously experienced.
